Review of The Unprodigal Novel

A Suspense Thriller Novel always fascinates me. All the crux of the whole story is always based on one Suspense. The climax of a suspense Thriller has to come at the right time. If the timing is not correct then there is no point to write the Suspense Thriller Novel.

For any writer, two fronts are the most important and difficult at the same time. One is the ‘Beginning’ and the second is the ‘End’. Manu Dhawan did a great job on both fronts.

Families always have tough and complex relationships. Family Dispute plots are very old. Even our epics are based on Family Disputes like the Mahabharat and the Ramayana.

The plot of The Unprodigal

The Unprodigal start with a character named ‘Aryan’. He is a genius and a dashing person who could live a lavish life but chose a different path and found himself with a band of bandits on the desert train.

Aryan is the son of the business tycoon the ‘Yash Raut’. ‘The Unprodigal‘ runs around the weird, difficult and complex relationship of father and child or children.

Yash Raut blames his father for many things but the real problem was Aryaman (Yash’s father) didn’t spend much time with him in his childhood.

Yash did the same with his children, Aryan and Zara. Zara is the elder child. Zara and Aryan have a beautiful relationship between brother and sister. Even Zara always be like a mother to Aryan as she is always there whenever Aryan needs her.

Aryaman is a man of principle and a person who wants to serve his nation in a better way. He was so true and responsible for his work that even he didn’t deviate from the commerce policy for his own child’s benefit.

Aryan and Aryaman spent much time together, they were like buddies. Aryaman always teaches Aryan his principles and values. He is the guiding light of Aryan.

The story took a turn when Aryaman died under a mysterious circumstance. Aryan single-handedly try to solve his grandfather’s mysterious death and took a long and difficult journey.

He failed, lost himself in his adventure and found himself among some bandits on a train which is going to Pakistan.

Writing Review

The story is beautifully crafted and the author was able to maintain the mystery till the climax. The ‘End’ doesn’t disappoint and every dot gets connected in the end.

Relationships between families are complex and hence, the reason for Family Disputes.

To some extent, it is the story of every modern family trying to live a better life and losing one of the most precious things in life i.e. Time (moments) to spend with dear ones.

The mistake Aryaman Raut did was repeated by the Yash Rout and the consequences were also the same i.e. difficult and unpleasant relationship between father and son.

To some extent, Manu Dhawan gets success to get the reader’s attention the whole time for his Suspense Thriller Novel. Writing is good and continuous which never bored a reader. Each chapter took you one step closer to the climax at the right speed.

If you like a Suspense Thriller Novel then ‘The Unprodigal’ is the book you should read. ‘The Unprodigal’ lacks detailing of the situations.

The author tried to end the story in limited pages, which makes this book readable for a mass audience.

The disadvantage of having a short novel, also turns into an advantage as many people never have time to read the 1000s-page book. They can have the same Suspense Thriller feeling with limited detailing in ‘The Unprodigal’.
