YouTube is removing stories feature to focus on Shorts, long-form videos, and live content.

YouTube is shifting its focus away from Stories and towards Shorts, long-form videos, and live content, prompting the removal of the Stories feature from the platform. As of June 26th, users will no longer be able to create new YouTube Stories, and existing ones will expire seven days after they were initially shared.

To replace Stories, YouTube promotes Community posts and Shorts as the primary way creators connect with their audiences and facilitate conversations.

In a blog post, the platform emphasized its commitment to investing in new and innovative tools to help creators grow their audiences on YouTube. It promised to announce new features for both Shorts and Community posts throughout the year.

Initially introduced in 2017 under Reels, Stories were only available to users with over 10,000 subscribers. They were a quick way for creators to share updates and promotions for their channels.

With the removal of Stories, YouTube is encouraging creators to use Community posts to share updates, start conversations, and promote their content on the platform.
