DEADLOCK: ABILITIES, LORE, GAMEPLAY

Spread the love

The long-awaited moment has arrived, as the Norwegian Sentinel, Deadlock, has finally been unveiled. If you’re eager to learn about her unique abilities, delve into her captivating lore, and witness her thrilling gameplay, you’ve come to the right place.

After Sova relentless pursuit of Deadlock, the time has come for the audience to catch a glimpse of Valorant’s next formidable Sentinel.

Who Is Deadlock?

Following the leaked “promo” that initially surfaced about Deadlock, it became apparent that she hails from a northern country close to Sova. The snowy mountainous terrain featured in Sova’s operation was indeed the picturesque backdrop of Norway.

Deadlock now joins the ranks as Valorant’s 23rd Agent. Without further ado, let’s dive into a comprehensive overview of her awe-inspiring abilities.

Deadlock Abilities Explained

These are all the abilities that will come with the new agent:

GravNet – C Ability

Deadlock C Ability - GravNet

Deadlock’s first ability is the GravNet, a versatile grenade that can be thrown normally using the FIRE key or launched from below using ALT FIRE.

Upon impact with the ground, the GravNet detonates, compelling caught enemies to crouch and move at a sluggish pace.

Equip a GravNet grenade. Press FIRE to launch normally or ALTERNATIVE FIRE to launch from below. The GravNet explodes upon impact, forcing enemies within its radius to crouch and move slowly.

Sonic Sensor – Q Ability

Deadlock Q Ability - Sonic Sensor

As the name suggests, the Sonic Sensor is a deployable device that can be activated with the FIRE key. Once deployed, it diligently scans the area, detecting any auditory cues emitted by enemy agents.

If it detects:

  • Gunfire noise
  • Footsteps
  • Ability noise

The surrounding area will become disorienting, causing a concussive effect on anyone within range. While moving stealthily with SHIFT is safe, dashing forward with a knife will prove perilous.

Barrier Mesh – E Ability

Deadlock E Ability - Barrier Mesh

Deadlock’s signature ability is the Barrier Mesh, a disc-shaped projectile launched by pressing FIRE. Upon collision with the ground, the disc generates four barriers that impede the movement of enemy agents.

These barriers function similarly to Sage’s wall and can be destroyed by targeting the blue circular barriers on the ground. If you’re having trouble visualizing it, refer to the accompanying picture for a crystal-clear understanding.

Annihilation – Ultimate Ability

Deadlock Ultimate Ability - Annihilation

If the name sounds ominous, fear not, for it refers to the Nanowire Accelerator. Equipping this ultimate ability and clicking FIRE releases a pulse of nanowires that ensnare the first enemy they encounter.

Once ensnared, the enemy agent is helplessly pulled along the path of the nanowires, eventually meeting their demise upon reaching the end.

However, an ally can rescue the captured agent by shooting at the nanowires, destroying the cocoon-like structure and setting them free. It’s undeniably eerie but effective.

Deadlock Release Date

Overall, Deadlock’s cutting-edge abilities position her as a potential replacement for Killjoy and Cypher in the meta.

However, her true impact will remain uncertain until she is officially added to the game and players have spent considerable time experimenting with her gameplay.

As for Deadlock’s release date, she is scheduled to join the ranks of other agents in Episode 7 Act 1 on the 27th of June.

Her initial reveal took place on the 24th of June, and further details about her abilities will be unveiled during the Grand Final of Masters Tokyo.

Riot Games, not wanting to keep us waiting, graciously shared gameplay footage of Deadlock on the eve of the Grand Final.

It’s only fitting to direct our excitement toward the upcoming clash between Fnatic and Evil Geniuses, rather than solely focusing on the agent we will undoubtedly be captivated by in the days to come.
